We’re going to let you in on a secret that — as a business designed to showcase the latest in menswear — we really shouldn’t. You don’t need to own a lot of clothes to look good.
Seriously. While other publications might say it’s important to have that shearling teddy-bear coat or those conceptual triple waistband jeans in order to be considered ‘stylish’, this simply isn’t the case.
You should, however, aim to have to hand a select few essentials that work anytime, anywhere. Genuinely handsome, well-made stuff that works with everything else in your wardrobe. Not only will this make getting ready in the dark a breeze (a real possibility during the winter months), but also elevate you among the ranks of truly well-dressed men.
For that reason (and because we’re fans of the British brand’s trademark understated style), we’ve teamed up with Percival to produce our first-ever clothing collaboration, a six-piece capsule collection comprising just that.
Designed in London by FashionBeans deputy editor Luke Todd, made in fair trade factories and limited to a run of just 30 per item, the range takes the cornerstones of every good outfit and gives them a fresh look with premium fabrics like rich moleskin and ethically sourced Portuguese lambswool, plus details such as subtle checks and seventies-inspired trims.
The result is a series of throw-on-and-go pieces that will last for seasons to come. They will go with most of what you already own. They will go with each other, too. And they will go in the post and reach you by Christmas if you get in quick. Enjoy.

Bronze Moleskin Denton Jacket
What constitutes the perfect wardrobe isn’t typical everyday pub chat, so you’d be forgiven for not knowing that it includes a moleskin jacket. A strong fabric traditionally worn by blue-collar workers, it’s durable and insulating, yet lightweight and pliable, making it ideal for wintry weather. This example, based on Japanese denim jackets, has a slightly cropped body, meaning it’ll layer easily over T-shirts, hoodies and chunkier knitwear.
Wayfarer Embroidered T-Shirt
UV rays are year-round, and so is the appeal of the classic white T-shirt. Therefore, it makes sound economic sense to bring the two together into one neat package. Both stalwarts of the male wardrobe, favoured by style icons such as James Dean and John F Kennedy, here classic Wayfarer sunglasses appear embroidered on a soft pure cotton T-shirt that will form the foundation countless cool and cold-weather outfits. Menswear? Completed it, mate.
Cream Yoke Weave Roll Neck
You’ve no doubt already got a pretty good selection of knitwear in your wardrobe — heck, there’s even probably a few roll necks in there — but that doesn’t stop this waffle knit version from elevating the wardrobe staple to new heights. Spun from medium weight Portuguese lambswool for an ultra soft handle that’s also both insulating and breathable, the final touch comes in the form of seventies-inspired trims to the hems.
Navy Corduroy Vincent Overshirt
There’s a very good reason why the overshirt frequently appears on those lists of items every stylish man should own. As smart as it is practical, this version may come in one of this season’s trending fabrics, corduroy, but it’s practically future-proof thanks to the timeless navy shade that can be worn dressed up with a roll neck and smart trousers or down with a white T-shirt tucked into tailored joggers.
Wayfarer Embroidered Sweatshirt
When it comes to the building blocks of the male wardrobe, three things take priority: fit, fabric and attention to detail. This simple grey marl sweatshirt excels on all counts. Cut slim for a contemporary look, and rendered in 100 per cent cotton, it’s finished with the custom FashionBeans x
Melton Check Roscoe Overcoat
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of climbing into a quality overcoat on blustery days, especially when it means you not only out-dress every other man in the park, but stay genuinely warm. This one, which features a subtle check design, is cut from thick melton wool in a comfortable, unstructured profile for easy throwing over a chunky knit at the weekend or a suit for when you seriously mean business. Take that, winter.
