A man from Singapore was recently fined for posing as a security guard for a “princess” from a Malaysian royal family in order to gain access to an ENHYPEN concert.
The man came up with the plan in order to help his daughter, who had purchased tickets for the show, skip the queue and to watch over her because he was concerned about her safety, per CNA.
According to the news outlet, the man contacted concert organiser AEG Presents Asia and explained that a princess from the Selangor royal family would be attending the concerts on January 20 and 21. He then asked for access to the concert in order to ensure the safety of the attendee.
The man, who dressed in a suit to look like a bodyguard, was then given a lanyard and wristbands for special early entry for the two shows when he showed up on January 20. CNA reports that his daughter did not receive special tickets or passes.
Following the end of the January 20 concert, after the man and his daughter had left, the concert’s the security team were alerted by an event manager who had suspicions about the pair’s identities. A police report was filed shortly after.
The man has since been fined S$5,000 (roughly US$3,700) by a court today (July 29). He had pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring with his daughter to cheat by impersonation.
During the sentencing, District Judge Paul Quan said that the man had damaged to the reputation of the Selangor royal family and were given “unfair benefits” for a sold-out concert, per TODAY.
“Your daughter was 17-years-old at the material time, and hardly an age where she could not have taken care of herself,” added Quan. “It does not lie in [the man’s] mouth to say he was sorry […] He is only sorry that he got caught.”
In other ENHYPEN news, the boyband released their second studio album ‘Romance: Untold’ earlier this month, coming three years after 2021’s ‘Dimension : Dilemma’. The new record was led by the single ‘XO (Only If You Say Yes)’.
