Fashion week has come and gone, but the beauty looks that went down the runways left a permanent mark on our brains that we haven’t been able to shake. This year, the beauty was particularly sublime. Grungy eye looks, futuristic nail art, barefaced boldness, and incredible bobs graced the runways, and our beauty team can’t seem to shut up about it. I, for one, will gladly continue the conversation about Phillip Lim’s 20th-anniversary show. The brand debuted its stunning S/S 25 collection with a modern, fresh makeup look courtesy of SHEGLAM.
Celebrity makeup artist Fara Homidi created soft and simple glam to complement the collection, which featured lace details, delicate feathers, statement shirts, and mesh silhouettes. “Our goal with the makeup was to achieve a fresh, dewy base while incorporating modern pops of color that complement the spring collection,” Homidi said. She maintained a less-is-more philosophy, “crafting a distinctive look with a subtle lavender halo around the eyes.” Our senior beauty editor Jamie Schneider couldn’t wait to re-create this look. Spoiler alert: It only took her 15 minutes and $41 to achieve this full face of SHEGLAM at home. If you want the inside scoop on all of the steps she took to get that model-like glow, just keep scrolling.
Jamie describes her fail-safe makeup routine as “a dewy, sun-kissed look” that is heavy on the peachy blush and highlighter. Typically straying from heavy eye makeup, she says “it’s all about the blush, contour, bronzer, and brow gel.” After watching the Phillip Lim show, Jamie admits to immediately falling head over heels. “It’s avant-garde yet super wearable. And when you keep the rest of your makeup dewy and fresh, I promise the subtle blush halo offers the perfect kiss of color,” she says. It wouldn’t be a Who What Wear story without an exact play-by-play of how to get the look, so Jamie took some pointers from Homidi and mapped it all out for you below.
Step 1: “First, I grabbed the Skin Magnet High Coverage Foundation Stick to cover up areas of discoloration. I like to swipe product only on the center portions of my face (my chin, forehead, and sides of my nose) then blend outward to diffuse the pigment. A little goes a long way with foundation sticks. Once you nail a precise application, your skin will look cloud-like, never cakey.”
Step 2: “I set that with the Insta-Ready Face & Under Eye Setting Powder in Bubblegum, paying close attention to my under-eyes. The pink pigment naturally brightens my dark circles and makes me look like I actually clocked nine hours of shut-eye. (During NYFW, that’s pretty much a pipe dream.)”
Step 3: “I used the Sun Sculpt Liquid Contour to define my cheekbones and eye area. Honestly, I love contouring the eyes—it’s so underrated! It makes me look naturally snatched and provides a hint of coverage for the tiny veins on my eyelids.”
Step 4: “I grabbed the Insta-Ready Face & Under Eye Setting Powder in the shade Taro (a sweet lilac) and piled it on my under-eyes—like, really loaded it on. With enough layering, it should result in a pinky-purple ‘halo’ around the eyes. Trust the process!”
Step 5: “After I had my base, I wiggled the All-in-One Volume & Length Mascara in Waterproof Black on the base of my lashes. I refrained from coating my lashes from root to tip like I usually would, as I wanted the look to remain minimal.”
And there you have it! Straight from the runway to Jamie’s vanity, we have a minimalist “under-eye blush” look. “Honestly, this is probably the most low-lift makeup look from NYFW (aside from the shows that used no makeup at all, of course),” she says, describing the glam as super easy to master yet somehow able to make a dramatic impact, and we couldn’t agree more. Her philosophy is that makeup should feel fun, and we all know that SHEGLAM always understands the assignment. “Seeing bold, innovative products in my beauty bag inspires me to whip up a bold, creative beat and test the waters with new looks I might have balked at before,” she says. While this may be an insignificant detail to some, Jamie recalls being extremely impressed by the packaging. According to Jamie, “the design choices are innovative, from the double-tiered setting powder to the compact twist-to-reveal foundation stick to the dual-sided mascara. It makes applying makeup 10 times more enjoyable, which is exactly how you should feel when crafting a stunning look.”
