Come and hear our music just as you did for decades

Neil Young has sent Donald Trump an open invite to attend his North American tour following the President’s recent row with Bruce Springsteen.

Over the last couple of weeks, Trump and Springsteen have been engaged in a public feud that kicked off when The Boss took to the stage in England and called Trump an “unfit president” and accused him of leading a “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration”.

Trump retaliated by taking to his Truth Social platform and describing Springsteen as a “dried-out prune of a rocker” and “not a talented guy.” He then insinuated that there could be a federal investigation into the support for Kamala Harris from Springsteen, Beyoncé, Oprah, Bono and “many others”, as well as sharing a fake video that showed him knocking over Springsteen with a golf ball.

Young then threw his support behind Springsteen, and stated that he wasn’t “scared” of Trump, and further urged the President to “think about saving America from the mess you made… you are forgetting your real job. You work for us. Wake up Republicans! This guy is out of control. We need a real president!”

Now, Neil Young has shared a new post on his Neil Young Archives blog, expressing his hopes for peace, and even referenced the President’s past as a fan of his music. He wrote: “When I tour the USA this summer, if there is not martial law by then which would make it impossible, let’s all come together and stand for American values.”

Addressing Trump, Young continued: “We will not be doing a political show. We will be playing the music we love for all of us to enjoy together. President Trump, you are invited. Come and hear our music just as you did for decades.”

Young would then go on to reiterate his support for Springsteen: “Bruce Springsteen and many others will be in our country this summer, there for you, playing your favourite music, songs like ‘Born in the USA’. We are proud to be who we are, and must never let our government forget it.”

The Canadian icon has in the past questioned if he’ll be able to re-enter the United States when the European tour wraps, due to his many criticisms of President. This comes after the Trump administration has deported and detained several immigrants over their political views, including pro-Palestine activists, as well as those backing Ukraine over Russia.

Young is set to return to the UK and Europe soon as part of his ‘Love Earth’ world tour with the Chrome Hearts. This includes a bill-topping set at Glastonbury Festival in a number of weeks, and a headline slot at BST Hyde Park the following month. In August, he’s due to return to the US for a run of North American tour dates.

Young was confirmed as the first headliner for Glastonbury 2025 in early January, after he initially pulled out of the festival due to it being “a corporate turn-off”, owing to its partnership with the BBC. He first headlined Glastonbury Festival back in 2009 alongside Bruce Springsteen and Blur.

Young’s BST Hyde Park show will see him headlining this year’s edition of the London concert series along with Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder, Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan and Jeff Lynne’s ELO. You can find any remaining tickets here.

He recently announced his first album with the Chrome Hearts, ‘Talkin To The Trees’, which arrives on June 13 via Reprise Records. Pre-order/pre-save here. Young and his new band have also shared a politically-charged single called ‘Let’s Roll Again’, as well as the record’s title track. These followed on from the previous song ‘Big Change’.

Young has been politically active in recent times, playing at a Fighting Oligarchy rally organised by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Los Angeles in April. He was joined by Joan Baez and Maggie Rogers for versions of ‘Rainbow Of Colours’ and ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’.
