The WNBA playoffs have arrived, and Angel Reese has her eye on the prize. The Atlanta Dream forward will face off against the Washington Mystics on September 26, just days after suffering an injury to her face during Atlanta Dream’s matchup with New York Liberty.
As the 24-year-old plays in hopes of winning her first WNBA championship, she’ll have the support of her boyfriend, Wendell Carter Jr. The couple has been fairly low-key about their relationship over the last couple of years. Learn more about their romance below.
Who is Wendell Carter Jr.?
Carter Jr. is a pro basketball player like his girlfriend. He plays as a center and forward for Orlando Magic. He previously played for the Chicago Bulls. Prior to getting drafted, Carter Jr. played for Duke.
The 27-year-old was born and raised in the Atlanta area. Both of his parents were college basketball players.
How long have Angel Reese and Wendell Carter Jr. been dating?
Reese and Carter Jr. were first linked in May 2025 when he attended her 23rd birthday party. Carter Jr. was spotted taking a video of Reese at her bash. He showed support for Reese at the WNBA All-Star game a few months later and even wore a T-shirt with her face on it. In November 2025, Reese returned the favor by getting all decked out in Orlando Magic gear.
That same month, Carter Jr. spoke publicly about Reese for the first time. “That’s the homie for sure,” he said on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back. “We locked in. Y’all gonna find out when y’all need to find out. We’ll just leave it at that. That’s my girl, though. We locked in for sure.” Over the last year, they’ve continued to show their support for each other at basketball games.
At Reese’s September 19 game against the Chicago Sky, Carter Jr. stepped out wearing a custom Angel jersey, with “Number 1 Fan” written on the back. The couple showcased some playful PDA and shared a hug.
Who is Angel Reese’s ex-boyfriend?
Reese previously dated Cam’Ron Fletcher, who currently plays basketball for High Point University. Reese revealed their relationship in June 2023 during her 1 Star Recruits podcast interview. Less than a year later, she confirmed they had broken up.
“Yeah, I’m single,” Reese said on Instagram Live. “I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man. That’s all I’mma say. That’s it.”
Following her split from Fletcher, Reese got candid about wanting to keep her personal life out the spotlight. “Now i see why people hide relationships & keep everything private like i don’t think i’ll ever openly share that part of my life with yall again until im married cause yall do THE MOST!” she posted on X in November 2024.
