Talk about an Oscars debut! BLACKPINK’s Lisa, whose real name is Lalisa Manobal, became the first K-pop singer to perform at the Academy Awards. She teamed up with Doja Cat and Raye for a sensational James Bond tribute.
After a dance number featuring Margaret Qualley, Lisa graced the stage to sing a fierce rendition of “Live and Let Die” from the 1973 film. She was followed by Doja Cat, who sang “Diamonds Are Forever” from the 1971 film of the same name. Raye performed Adele‘s “Skyfall,” the theme from the 2012 film. The trio recently released the song “BORN AGAIN” together.
Just days before her Oscars performance, Lisa released her debut album, Alter Ego. The 15-track album includes collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, Tyla, and more. “I can’t believe my album is finally here!!!! I’m so happy that it’s yours now. I hope you love it as much as I do,” she wrote on Instagram the day of her album’s release.
The 27-year-old rose to fame as a member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK. The group includes Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. They made their debut in 2016 with the release of Square One and have become one of the most popular girl groups in the world.
In addition to her music career, Lisa is currently starring in Season 3 of The White Lotus. She plays Mook, one of the employees at The White Lotus resort in Thailand, which also happens to be Lisa’s home country. The role is Lisa’s acting debut.
“I’m a big fan of The White Lotus, and as soon as I heard that I got an opportunity to audition for this role, I just went straight away and did it,” Lisa told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m just so lucky and happy to be part of The White Lotus family. They’ve been so nice to me. We’re like a big family.”
