It was widely known that Dolly Parton was ill. She missed the opening of a new rollercoaster at Dollywood eleven days before her death. She made a video appearance, apologizing for her absence and said her doctor wouldn’t let her attend in person. Dolly Parton assured fans that she was on the mend.
She repeated the claim during her final interview with PEOPLE magazine just four days before her death. “I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over [late husband] Carl [Dean],” she told the outlet. “Even though I’m still healin’, I’m still workin.’”
