The first trailer for Carrie, a new adaptation of the Stephen King classic by Mike Flanagan, has been revealed, along with the series’ premiere date: Wednesday, October 7.
On Saturday (July 25), Prime Video revealed the first preview and release date for the series during its San Diego Comic-Con panel.
In the trailer, we see the first look at Carrie White (Summer H. Howell), her fundamentalist mother Margaret (Samantha Sloyan), and her strife at school, along with the first hint of other dimensions that will be explored in the series.
The series’ official description reads, “Misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer H. Howell) has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.”
“Told over eight propulsive episodes,” the description continues, “the series expands King’s cultural landmark — deepening its characters and tensions, and following the small, everyday choices that build toward a single, shattering night, in a gripping, deeply human story about kindness versus cruelty, and whether we’re witnessing the making of a hero, a monster, or something far more complicated.”
Carrie is the latest adaptation of a King novel by Flanagan, who previously adapted Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck, and is expected to adapt The Dark Tower as well.
The Carrie cast also includes Siena Adugon as Sue Snell, Amber Midthunder as Rita Desjardin, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Arthur Conti as Billy Nolan, Josie Totah as Tina Blake, Matthew Lillard as Henry Grayle, and Thalia Dudek as Emaline. Flanaverse regulars Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco, Rahul Kohli, Ruth Codd, Katee Sackhoff, Crystal Balint, Olive Abercrombie are also appearing in the series, and other recurring stars include Tim Bagley, Heather Graham, Tahmoh Penikett, Danielle Klaudt, Mapuana Makia, Rowan Danielle, Naika Toussant, Delainey Hayles, Cassandra Naud, Gil Bellows, and Mckayla Carse.
