Cruz Beckham shares feel-good new single ‘Waste Your Pain’

After teasing it on his recent tour, Cruz Beckham has shared the optimistic new single ‘Waste Your Pain’.

The singer-songwriter – son of David and Victoria Beckham – launched his music career last year with the trippy debut double A-side ‘Optics’ and ‘Lick The Toad’, before following up with the romantic ‘For Your Love’.

Now, he and his band The Breakers are back with an uplifting new song which sees them tackle themes of self-acceptance and seeking a fresh start.

Centred around a fast-paced, bright guitar riff, ‘Waste Your Pain’ has a lighthearted feel throughout and sees Beckham build towards an unapologetic, feel-good chorus.

“I ain’t gonna waste my pain on you/ Unless you’re gonna waste your pain on me,” he sings. “I can finally see us moving on/ Us being free/ At last.”

The single is produced by Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov (Kim Gordon, Charli XCX), and also comes with a free-spirited music video inspired by the 1983 film Risky Business.

Beckham first teased ‘Waste Your Pain’ earlier this year when he used it to open the shows on his debut headline tour around the UK, which wrapped last month with three nights at London’s Courtyard Theatre.

The tour also got some talking as the souvenir tickets for his show in Cardiff incorrectly claimed that the city is in England, not Wales.

Later this year, Beckham will kick off his first US headline tour, and is also set to perform at major festivals including Reading & Leeds, Rock N Roll Circus, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and Shaky Knees. Visit here for remaining tickets.

“I’m so excited to get out on the road, I’ve always been inspired by bands who do it the right way, so I wanna get out there and play loads of small gigs,” the singer shared last year. “I cannot wait to meet the fans and for them to hear the tracks, I can’t believe people have actually spent their hard-earned money to come and see me and my band, so we’re gonna put on a show!”

Before Beckham released his debut singles last year, The Kooks’ Luke Pritchard revealed that he had been in the studio with the singer to help him write some music.
