Espionage, Conspiracies and Twisted Loyalties in Thrilling New Series

Thunderbird Rising by John H. Thomas

Filled with high stakes and tight suspense.

Three days ago, [Maxx had] been sitting quietly in a bar, and here he was caught up in international intrigue, murder, and a plot from a science fiction novel.

Thunderbird Rising, the first in John H. Thomas’s new Maxx King thriller series, is an action-packed alternate history that will blow readers away. Set in the bustling streets of Seattle and New York City in September 2001, Thunderbird Rising introduces readers to a world filled with high stakes and distorted loyalties — and a few surprising twists.

    Secret Devices and Chinese Assasins

Maxx King, a former Army Ranger turned cybercrime investigator, just wants his life to return to a feeling of normalcy after a brutal breakup resulted in his company struggling to stay afloat after his ex sabotaged his client list. He finally seems to be on the right track after meeting the girl of his dreams, Gabby — but that all grinds to a halt when the two find themselves in the middle of a clandestine U.S.-China conflict.

Contracted for a covert project, Gabby and her team are working on decoding a device of unknown origin with the power to trigger massive natural disasters. Everyone wants their hands on it — competing U.S. government agencies and foreign powers — and they’re willing to kill for it.

In this deadly political chess match filled with unknown loyalties, deceit and international espionage, who can Maxx and Gabby trust?

The clock is ticking down to an unknown disaster only days away, a disaster historians will find littered with endless conspiracy theories — none of which point to the real truth. Can they stop the threat in time?

    Edge-of-Your-Seat Suspense

If there’s one thing author John H. Thomas knows, it’s how to keep readers hooked. From its opening pages, Thunderbird Rising is filled with high stakes and tight suspense, leaving readers breathless for what happens next.

This suspense is heightened by the characters’ secret pasts and motives, of which Thomas provides just enough glimpses to leave readers guessing. Until the book’s final pages, readers will wonder who exactly is on what side — and which side will come out on top.

These characters are a mixture of conniving and candid, from the mysterious Miss Grey to the frank Glen Piper. Readers will love to hate the villainous characters and are sure to find Maxx likable and fun. He’s good-natured and witty with his friends, and willing to do what it takes to keep the world safe — and eke out justice. The most thrilling kind of hero.

Thunderbird Rising has some surprising twists that make it stand out from other thrillers. The author utilizes history — both global and local — to add depth to the story, creating a unique alternate version of history where world governments have hidden the truth behind major global events. Highly recommended for anyone interested in conspiracy thrillers with a dash of science fiction.

John H. Thomas lives in the Seattle area with his wife and the world’s sweetest cat: Karmann. Raised in a nomadic military family, he is annoyingly curious, a consumer of whiskey, and a political junky at heart, but his greatest interests are his family and their collective shenanigans.
