Fox News Host Joe Concha Makes Blunt Demand of Mitch McConnell Amid Health Absence

    What To Know

    • Fox News host Joe Concha publicly called for Senator Mitch McConnell to step down if he doesn’t return to duties.
    • McConnell was hospitalized after a fall in June, spent six weeks in the hospital and rehabilitation.
    • Despite his medical scare, McConnell reportedly intends to return to work and finish his term.

Fox News host Joe Concha made a blunt demand of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) amid his continued absence from the U.S. Senate.

On Saturday, September 5, the Fox contributor shared his honest opinion of McConnell, 84, remaining MIA from Washington, D.C., after a six-week hospital stay.

“I’ll say it: If he does not come back in September, he needs to step down,” Concha declared on The Big Weekend Show. “Enough of this already!”

He added, “How many months has it been since we’ve even heard from him directly? I don’t want to see proof of life photos from a hospital bed anymore. He needs to get in front of a microphone and prove that he can do this job. And if he can’t, he needs to step aside. Period.”

On June 14, McConnell was hospitalized after a fall at his home. He released a statement in mid-July with a health update.

“Last month, I took a fall which landed me in the hospital,” he wrote. “My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following note to constituents regarding his hospitalization and recovery:

Following a six-week hospital stay, McConnell transitioned to a rehabilitation center; he was released on August 6.

One of the latest health updates came from CNN’s Scott Jennings in early September.

“I haven’t spoken to him for several days, just to be clear. I know he’s at home. I know he’s still doing his recovery,” Jennings revealed. “The Senate goes back in on the 14th of September. I know they’re fighting to get him back to work. I know he wants to go back to work, and I know he wants to finish his term, and it’s his intention to do so.”
