Gina Zollman, the vibrant cabaret and jazz singer hailing from Palm Springs, is making a triumphant return to the spotlight across the West Coast. Her journey began at a tender age, starting to sing at just six years old and continuing through her school years. Gina pursued her passion academically, earning a BA in Linguistics with a minor in Music from UCSD Revelle College.
After graduation, Gina embarked on a successful corporate career, excelling as a high-profile stockbroker and later serving as Vice President and COO of Flame Gard, a pioneering company in restaurant kitchen safety innovations. Despite her corporate success, Gina’s heart remained in showbiz, prompting her bold decision to transition into a full-time singing career.
Her marketing acumen proved invaluable as she sold out her debut one-woman show at The Gardenia in Hollywood, following training at UCLA Extension’s “How To Put On Your Own Cabaret Act” under the guidance of renowned pianist and songwriter Shelly Markham, who later became her accompanist and Music Director.
Known for her comedic flair, Gina created memorable characters like “Svetlana, the Russian Runway Model Who Ran Away” and “Shmarilyn,” blending humor with her musical performances. She ventured into television, auditioning for shows like “In Living Color” and earning roles such as a singing nightclub owner in “LA Young Pal.”
Her quirky charm shone brightly on “The New Gong Show,” where her operatic rendition of “Shout” dressed as a Wagnerian Valkyrie left a lasting impression, leading to principal roles and membership in the Screen Actors Guild. Gina’s vocal talents also graced Carnegie Hall, performing John Rutter’s acclaimed works with “The Marina Singers.”
Throughout her career, Gina faced personal challenges, including significant weight fluctuations and health setbacks like Stage 3 colon cancer and a debilitating stroke. Her resilience and humor, evident in her shows and original compositions, continue to resonate with audiences.
Based on the West Coast, Gina splits her time between Southern California and Vancouver, British Columbia, spending part of the year in Point Roberts, Washington. Her album “Anywhere with You,” recorded at Capitol Records in Hollywood, features classic standards that showcase her timeless vocal style.
