Recently, Scotto mourned the loss of her former Fox 5 New York co-anchor, Ernie Anastos. His death was recently confirmed this past Thursday. He was 82 at the time of his death.

Throughout his career, Anastos was known for hosting a variety of shows, including Positively Ernie and Positively America. He also served as an anchor for stations including ABC 7, CBS 2, and FOX 5.

Scotto Also Shared A Video Tribute To Ernie Anastos On Social Media

Speaking with Page Six, Scotto recently looked back at the time she first met Anastos. She shared, “When I was in college, I had the opportunity to be introduced to Ernie and ask him what it would take to get into the TV business,” adding that he was “very gracious with his time and advice.”

Years later, Scotto found herself working with Anastos at WNYW. She shared, “Lo and behold, a number of years later, I had the honor of anchoring with Ernie on the 10 o’clock news. He was a terrific newsman—compassionate and fair.”

As the outlet noted, Scotto continued, “I loved working with him. We are all heartbroken to hear that he’s passed.”

Scotto also praised her former co-star on social media. In a post, she included a video montage of photos with the two working alongside each other. She noted, “He was a good man and someone we really looked up to.” Once again, she shared that “we” were “heartbroken” to learn of his passing.

In the comments, many fans who watched Anastos over the years also shared their condolences. Some comments included:

      • “A New York icon.”
      • “One of those people you could always count on and you thought would live forever. Memory eternal, @ernieanastos and condolences to your family. I loved seeing a fellow Greek on TV every day. You made the parade so meaningful. You will be missed.”
