KARD rapper BM has released his new single ‘Nectar’, featuring Jay Park, from his first solo EP ‘Element’.
In the music video for ‘Nectar’, BM and Jay Park perform the sultry R&B single on a theatre stage, illuminated by spotlights. Aside from Park, BM’s new EP ‘Element’ also features KARD bandmate Somin on the song ‘Badgirl Badboy’.
“I was already a fan of Jay Park when I joined [the reality TV show K-pop Star in 2011], and I made the decision to be a singer looking at his stages,” BM said about working with Jay Park on ‘Nectar’ in an interview with Korea JoongAng Daily.
“Everyone in Korea knows who Jay Park is. He is the embodiment of coolness, and he defines masculinity,” he added. “I wanted him to feel that I’m a professional younger brother. I didn’t want to pressure him. And Jay Park, too, felt like an older brother who takes good care of me.”
During the interview the singer also touched about his music being dubbed “adult K-pop” by fans, saying that he “think[s] the things that fit younger K-pop artists and things that they are good at can be different from what fits me and what I can do well”.
BM is set to embark on a solo concert tour of the US, dubbed the ‘After the After Party’ tour, later this month. Beginning with a show in Los Angeles on May 14, the singer-rapper will head to five other US cities – Dallas, Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Washington D.C. – over the course of the same month.
