Leonardo DiCaprio and Gigi Hadid Reportedly ‘Tried Dating’ But ’There Just Wasn’t’ Anything There

Us Weekly recently reported that Gigi Hadid and Leonardo DiCaprio are in “a friendly, no-strings ‘situationship’ right now.” But according to a source close to DiCaprio, that’s absolutely not the case. The source made it clear to Daily Mail that DiCaprio does not do casual; he is not that “cheap.” He and Hadid are only friends, although they briefly tried to be more.

“They tried dating some time ago to see if there could be anything there, but there just wasn’t,” the source explained. “They are friends and have been for so long, but they are not in an open relationship with no-strings-attached. People just need to let this go. That is not how Leonardo handles relationships. This makes him sound cheap and that he is not. When he is with someone, he is with them. He enjoys his friendship with Gigi and that is that.”

The source added that Hadid and DiCaprio’s recent attendance at the same dinner event as his parents does not indicate there’s some secret romance brewing either. (Hadid and DiCaprio were seen at a dinner hosted by British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful in early June.) “It is just ridiculous that a man and a woman cannot be friends without everyone insisting there is more to it,” the source said.

Us Weekly‘s source said on June 15 that despite Hadid and DiCaprio’s breakup in February, they started seeing each other again this summer casually. “[They] travel so often so it’s best for them to keep their relationship open and fluid,” the source claimed. “Neither one of them wants to settle down at the moment.”

Neither Hadid nor DiCaprio have ever commented on their rumored relationship.
