Lorde has wiped all of her social media accounts, leading fans to believe she is set to announce some new music.
As of today (August 12) both Lorde’s Instagram and X/Twitter feeds have been cleared of any posts, which has left her listeners wondering if she’s teasing a new album.
“The album is really coming this time omg!!!” wrote one fan, while another commented: “as excited as i am for her new era am i the only one who hates when musicians do this?”.

The changes to her social media come after she shared exactly one second of new music last month. Before she wiped her accounts, the musician had posted several pictures of herself on her Instagram Story inside the studio and in the last post, shared one second of new music.
Captioning the video, Lorde wrote: “will be back in touch” while she bops her head along to the track, which has hints of dance and techno.
Speculations about a “new era” have been ongoing since 2023, when she also utilised social media to hint she was working on new music with yet another ambiguous Instagram post.
Rumours of a new era ramped up following her set at Øya 2023, with NME writing at the time: “Having kicked off the “Night Vision edition” of her ‘Solar Power’ tour a few nights prior in Ireland, Lorde’s new set is a far more minimal affair than the sun-chasing colourama of her previous era.
“This one is more fitting for speeding between clubs and afterparties in the witching hour than heading to the beach. To tap a recent meme, this Lorde seems a little more Oppenheimer than Barbie.”
She had also promised fans she would show them something new last year, and said: “No this is not the start of anything out there, just want u to know there’s a light on inside me .. show it to you soon.”
Lorde joins Marina in consistently using social media to keep fans guessing. The ‘Purge The Poison’ singer recently made a series of cryptic posts to tease new material, and fans were quick to note she included a picture of Lorde in them, with many now speculating the ‘Royals’ singer might feature on a potential album – particularly after her unexpected collaboration with fellow pop titan Charli XCX on ‘Girl, so confusing‘ recently.
