Love These 2026 Met Gala Looks? We Have the Book Recs to Match

There’s no time that makes the cultural ubiquity of the celebrity more obvious than the night of the Met Gala. And listen — do we have criticisms of these blatant displays of wealth during a time of economic uncertainty? Yes. Are we entertained and dazzled by the glamour of the rich & famous? Also yes. Do we wish Vogue had called on us to attend so we could ask these celebs what they have on their TBRs? We’re just saying an invite would have been nice.

Regardless, we at least got to experience the event through our phone screens. This year’s theme of “Costume Art” proved to be welcome creative fodder for the talented designers and fashion houses, hitting our algorithms with an influx of famous figures in gorgeous ballgowns and striking fits (thank you to the gentlemen who refrained from wearing plain black suits). We’re highlighting some of our favorite looks of the night, and the books we’d recommend to these celebs based on their outfit of choice.

Emma Chamberlain is wearing a multilayered Mugler dress, perfectly matching Maggie O’Farrell’s Land.
