    Preview:

    • Steven Spielberg has agreed to oversee the next ‘Transformers’ movie.
    • Michael Bay is in early talks to direct.
    • Jason Fuchs wrote the script.

With its eye on IP it can exploit, Skydance, its Paramount Pictures division and toy giant Hasbro are aiming to bring the ‘Transformers’ franchise back towards the high-earning potential of the first few live-action movies, which kicked off in 2007 with the eponymous film.

And to help with that process, the companies are handing things over more closely to Steven Spielberg, who has been an executive producer all along but will take on a more involved creative role alongside fellow producing veteran Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

Little is known about the plot for the new film, aside from the fact that ‘IT: Welcome to Derry’s Jason Fuchs wrote the script and it is reportedly set in the present day.

Beyond that, we can surely expect the return of Optimus Prime and the Autobots, who continue their battle against the evil of the Decepticons as those Robots in Disguise tussle for victory.

When will the new ‘Transformers’ movie be on screens?

Bumblebee in 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.' Paramount Pictures and Skydance Present in association with Hasbro and New Republic Pictures, a di Bonaventura Pictures Production, a Tom Desanto /Don Murphy Production, a Bay Films Production.

Even with the creative team taking shape, there are zero casting details yet, so we’d not expect to see this one much before 2028 at the earliest.
