The Book News We Covered This Week

Welcome to Today in Books, our daily round-up of literary headlines at the intersection of politics, culture, media, and more. Here are the stories we covered ourselves on Book Riot this week.

Spotify has quite a few new book offerings this spring. For starters, the streaming company is now officially offering physical books in the US and UK (available today on Android and iOS starting next week) through its partnership with Bookshop.org.

What to make of the fact that this data stands in sharp contrast to last year’s widely-reported finding that only 16% of Americans reported reading for pleasure?

Differences in survey design could be a factor.

The last several years have been a nonstop barrage of bad legislation and targeted attacks on public libraries and public schools. Another program which has been under assault at the state level is one whose benefits are well-researched and whose cost is so low that it’s clear the attempts to revoke funding are about cruelty, rather than budget challenges: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

And for All Access members, here are all the interesting links we bookmarked that didn’t make the cut for full Today in Books coverage.
