‘The View’ Meghan McCain Calls Alyssa Farah Griffin A ‘Joke’

Meghan McCain has worked with a number of outlets over the years. However, many still know her best for her work on The View. Recently, on her podcast, she shared a few choice words for the newest conservative co-host on the show, Alyssa Farah Griffin.

Meghan McCain Became A Permanent Co-Host On The View In 2017, Leaving In 2021

Meghan is the daughter of politician John McCain and diplomat Cindy McCain. Over the years, she has become known for her work in broadcast journalism, working for outlets like ABC News, Fox News, and MSNBC.

However, many know Meghan best for her work with the talk show, The View. Serving as a guest co-host as early as 2008, she became a permanent co-host in 2017. However, she made her exit from the series in 2021.

Following this, Alyssa Farah Griffin joined the show, officially being named a permanent co-host in 2022. A former White House communications director, Griffin also serves as a more conservative viewpoint on the panel.

Recently, Meghan talked about Griffin during an episode of her podcast series, Citizen McCain. At the time, she was speaking with Isabel Brown, who also had previously criticized on The View over her own views on childbirth and marriage.

McCain Had More Positive Things To Say About Another Previous Co-Host

Noting that more conservative views often feel like an outlier on the show, Meghan shared, “The idea that a woman could be pro-life is beyond anyone at that show’s comprehension.” It was then that she turned her attention toward her replacement on the show.

Meghan shared that she was asked to help choose her replacement. She explained, “When I left The View, the executive producer said, ‘I want you to help me help pick your [successor.]’” After going through a “list of women,” she felt that she wanted to avoid “fake people who once voted for President Bush in the early 2000s and now hate everything Republicans have become.”

It was then that Meghan started talking about Griffin. Admitting, “I’m gonna say something that’s a little nasty,” she continued, “The person they replaced me with is a joke. She is in no way representative of conservative women.”

Meghan continued, “It’s been a wildly disappointing experience for me to see what legacy I helped do during the four years there while my dad battled brain cancer and I had not one, but two miscarriages while I worked there.” She also criticized Griffin for admitting to having voted for Kamala Harris in 2024, adding, “How is that representing conservatives?”

When asked about who she would like to see in Griffin’s seat, Meghan shared positive comments about previous co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who had been on the show from 2003 to 2013, calling her “strong.” Earlier in the conversation, when originally discussing possible replacements before Griffin officially joined the show, she also named Christian speaker Allie Beth Stuckey.
