The Today hosts will soon travel from the Big Apple to the Emerald Isle.
On the Thursday, September 10, episode of Today, all of the hosts joined Jenna Bush Hager for a special edition of her daily “Jenna’s Morning Boost” segment. Bush Hager started the segment by pointing out that Savannah Guthrie said she’s “dying to go to Ireland” during an interview with Pierce Brosnan last year.
“Your dreams and all of ours are coming true. We are heading to Ireland,” Bush Hager announced. Guthrie added, “Guys, this October, all of us, representing every hour of Today, will bring you the show live from Ireland, the Emerald Isle.”
Al Roker noted that Tourism Ireland is sponsoring the trip and that the special episode on Friday, October 16, will air from Sheen Falls Lodge in County Kerry, which will also provide the hosts’ accommodations. Carson Daly shared, “We’ll be traveling across the beautiful island to take in the incredible views, meet all the beautiful people there, and, of course, we’re gonna pencil in some time, I would imagine, to take in some local food and drink.”
Craig Melvin joked that Guthrie “manifested” the trip with her “flirting session with Pierce Brosnan.” He went on to surprise his colleagues with a “special message” from Brosnan.
“Good morning, everyone on the Today show. Dear Savannah [blows kiss], love and blessings to you and to you all there, my dear friends on the Today show. Al, I’m always ready to step in and tell the weather,” the actor said in a video message. “I love the country. Give it a big hug and a kiss from me. And to you, once more, Savannah [blows kisses], much love. Enjoy Ireland, the Emerald Isles. God bless. Travel safe.”
Guthrie gushed over the surprise, calling Brosnan “the best.” She went on to share her personal connection to the Ireland trip, stating, “I love that we’re all going. I’ve never been to Ireland. My mother was Irish. Her grandmother, they were from Galway.” (Savannah’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was abducted from her Arizona home in February, and police have yet to name a suspect in the ongoing investigation.)
Daly said a DNA test told him he’s “99.9% Irish,” joking, “The one time I did go, I went into a pub, and they were like, ‘Welcome home, lad! Carson Daly is home!’”
The hosts — including Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer — ended the Ireland announcement by doing a toast with pints of Guinness.

Fans shared their excitement for the special show via social media. “Ireland, the land of happiness, music and people with hearts of gold,” one user wrote underneath a clip from the show on Today‘s Instagram page. Another added, “Ireland is beautiful. You’ll love it!!!”
Someone else shared, “Sheen falls is fabulous!!! It was our favorite place we stayed! You all will love it there!” A different person posted, “Just returned from a wonderful trip. the friendliness people and a gorgeous country.” A separate commenter stated, “Soooo excited for you guys. prepare for the best time ever 🙂 I grew up in county Kerry #Sheen Falls is magnificent. Looking forward to following along.”
