Get ready for more Ultimatums at Netflix.
The streamer has picked up new seasons of both The Ultimatum and its companion show, The Ultimatum: Queer Love, as part of its ongoing expansion of reality programming. Netflix has also ordered another show in its Selling … franchise; a competition show called Battle Camp that’s reminiscent of MTV’s The Challenge; and a music competition titled Building the Band that has a Love Is Blind-ish twist.
The renewals and new shows join the recently announced Owning Manhattan, Million Dollar Secret and Love Is Blind: UK, plus new seasons of The Mole, Too Hot to Handle and Perfect Match, on Netflix’s unscripted docket.
“Once again, Netflix offers an unmatched variety of unscripted programming that pushes boundaries with bold new formats and captivating stories to entertain members across the globe,” said Jeff Gaspin, vp unscripted series at the streamer, in a statement.
Season three of The Ultimatum is set to premiere in December. As with past seasons, the show — hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey — will follow six couples in which one person is ready to get married and the other is dragging their feet. They’ll have eight weeks to tie the knot or move on.
Queer Love, meanwhile, is going into its second season and follows the same format; season two will feature couples made up of women and nonbinary people. A premiere date hasn’t been set yet. Both versions of The Ultimatum come from Kinetic Content (Love Is Blind, Perfect Match).
The newly announced series:
– Selling the City joins Selling Sunset and Selling the OC in Netflix’s real estate franchise. The new show will follow agents working in the ever-competitive New York City market. The series comes from Done and Done Productions, which is behind the other two Selling … shows; Adam DiVello, Skyler Wakil, Chris Cullen and Kris Lindquist are the executive producers.
– Battle Camp will feature the “greatest stars” from Netflix’s unscripted lineup competing in a series of challenges for a $250,000 prize — with eliminations coming via the spinning of a wheel. (Players must also work to keep their names off said wheel. Louise Peet, Ashley Whitehouse, Hannah Ganio and Rebecca McLaughlin executive produce; Fremantle’s Thames label produces.
– Building the Band, from Remarkable Entertainment and Banijay UK, will give 50 singers creative control over assembling their groups based on their musical compatibility and connections with one another. The twist, however, is that it all takes place before they ever see each other. Cat Lawson, Alison Holloway, Katrina Morrison and Clara Elliot are the EPs.
Netflix’s games division will also launch new games related to Too Hot to Handle, Perfect Match, The Ultimatum and Selling Sunset in connection with each show’s forthcoming season.
