Do you want to up your game when it comes to dating, work and nearly every other aspect in life? Focus on your body language. It says a whole lot about you before you even open your mouth. It might even be more important than what you’re wearing. Here’s a quick and easy guide to using body language to your advantage, as prescribed by renowned dating and lifestyle coach David Wygant.
Walk
confidently.
When you enter a room, walk in like there’s a string attached to your head, pulling your posture upwards. Shoulders back. No slouching or shrinking into yourself.
Strong
eye contact
is important.
When asking a question, always look the person directly in the eyes. Don’t let your eyes wander or dart off anywhere else. Whenever you do that, it looks as if you’ve lost interest, even though you’re still paying attention, she’ll think you’re looking at something (or someone) else. But it’s sometimes hard to maintain eye contact when you have to think. Most of us look up, down or away and then swing back when we’ve gathered our thoughts. If you need a second to think, do it before you answer. Take a pause, glance away and then return to making eye contact when you begin talking.
A smile
means
everything.
When you first talk to a woman, no matter how nervous you might be, smiling shows that you’re relaxed and that’s the key. And actually, negative facial expressions can send signals to your brain that whatever you’re doing is difficult. This sends cortisol into your bloodstream, which raises your stress levels. So, the more you smile, you won’t just look more relaxed, you’ll literally be more relaxed. Everything in life is very non-verbal.
Don’t
overthink
it.
A lot of guys will spend so much time worrying about the other person’s body language. But you’re the leader. When you lean in, they’ll lean in. When you lean back, they’ll lean back. And when on a date, most women are looking for men that lead. Leaders have great posture and great eye contact. Don’t worry about others. Worry about yourself because that’s all you ever can control.
