William Shatner Makes Appearance Despite Brain Cancer Reports

Despite these recent claims, the actor made a rare public appearance. During the event, Shatner also had a story to share about getting into trouble earlier in his career.

Shatner is an actor with a career spanning decades. For many, he is best known for portraying Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise. Making his debut in 1966, he appeared as the character during the original series, the first seven Star Trek movies, and in the animated Star Trek series.

Recently, Shatner became the subject of a viral rumor claiming that he had been diagnosed with brain cancer. The actor later took to social media to address the story.

As noted by Hello! Magazine, Shatner shared that he had learned about the story through his daughter, who heard about it from her own daughter. Sharing a photo of himself at home, he assured fans that he was alright, decrying the rumors. He also claimed that a Facebook page used artificial intelligence to create monetized fake news stories, telling fans to follow his official accounts for real updates.

The Actor’s Representatives Also Released A Statement About Shatner’s Health

Since the story, Shatner recently made a public appearance at the Calgary Expo in Alberta, Canada. During the event, he joined a live panel discussion to talk about his career.

The actor was seen dressed in a tan jacket over a shirt and blue trousers. Seen in good spirits, he warmly greeted fans before sitting down to take questions from attendees.

At one point, Shatner shared a story from an early shoot at Vasquez Rocks in Los Angeles County, describing being pulled over by the police while in his Captain Kirk costume. He shared, “I thought I was going to be arrested. He raises his hand in a Vulcan salute and says, ‘live long and prosper.’”

Shatner’s appearance at the event also helped to disprove the previous rumors about his health. As the outlet noted, his representatives also shared that he was “100 percent healthy.” As a cancer survivor, Shatner has previously talked about his battle with stage four melanoma, and is known for keeping active and upbeat. Back in March, he also appeared at Megacon 2026 in Orlando.
