Dutton Ranch is set to make its debut next month. However, news has come out that the series has already lost its showrunner. Notably, this comes out as similar issues have occurred on the show’s sister series.
The Yellowstone Spin-Off, Dutton Ranch, Is Set To Premiere On May 15, 2026
Yellowstone wrapped up in 2024. However, it still lives on through a number of spin-offs. Last month, for example, fans saw Kayce Dutton’s story continue in Marshals.
In addition, fans will get another spin-off, Dutton Ranch, which is set to premiere on May 15, 2026. The series stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, reprising their roles from Yellowstone, Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.

Before Dutton Ranch makes its debut, it has been announced that Chad Feehan, who served as a showrunner during the first season, will not return should it get renewed for a second season. Notably, this news comes out merely three weeks before the spin-off premieres.
Feehan is credited as a creator for the series. Of course, the show features characters created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson from the original Yellowstone drama. He also reportedly wrote at least two of the season’s nine episodes.
Tulsa King Also Set To Start Production On An Upcoming Season With No Showrunner
According to Parade, a report from Puck alleged that Feehan’s dismissal came from feelings of behind-the-scenes dissatisfaction. Reilly, Hauser, Sheridan, and 101 Studios boss David Glasser were each said to be unsatisfied with his work on the show. Notably, Reilly and Hauser also serve as executive producers on the show.
The first two episodes of Dutton Ranch are set to air on May 15 on Paramount+. This will be followed by a broadcast airing that night at 8 PM ET/PT on Paramount Network. Following this, the show will debut episodes one by one on a weekly basis. At this time, the series has not been renewed for a second season.
As the outlet noted, an official synopsis reads, “As Beth and Rip fight to build a future together – far from the ghosts of Yellowstone – they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire. In South Texas, blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul.”
Reportedly, Dutton Ranch isn’t the only Sheridan-created series facing similar issues. According to Variety, Tulsa King would go into production on a fourth season with no actual showrunner, with over two dozen employees having been fired. Scott Stone, an executive in charge of production from 101 Studios, will oversee the show. The spin-off, Frisco King, also dismissed Tulsa King showrunner Dave Erickson back in July.
