Who Iz I? Coming to Prime Video?

Booyakasha! If you missed Sacha Baron Cohen‘s latest antics in theaters, have no fear, Ali G: Who Iz I? is already coming to Prime Video on Wednesday, October 28.

“After twenty years spent “chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’”, Ali G is shocked to discover that his long-term girlfriend, Julie, is 8 months pregnant,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Faced with an extra mouth to feed, he gets off his batty and heads to America to reclaim his former glory… but soon encounters adversaries who will ultimately threaten his and his child’s very existence.”

    Holding a Mirror to Society

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new film, Ali G: Who Iz I?, marks his directorial debut. The madcap comedy brings Cohen’s Ali G back to the fold after decades of sticking to the shadows. The timing of Ali G’s comeback couldn’t be better, as the people he tends to target are in desperate need of a reality check. Whether you enjoy his signature brand of comedy or not, Cohen always holds a mirror to some of society’s most morally bankrupt individuals, showing them the errors of their ways, thanks to his outlandish stunts, psychological warfare, and unpredictable improv.

    JoBlo’s Take

Our editor-in-chief, Chris Bumbray, reviewed Ali G: Who Iz I?, giving the film a solid 6 out of 10. In his review, Chris said the message of Cohen’s latest comedy “is that people get so caught up in their own ideology and beliefs that, if you manipulate them in the right way, you can make them do virtually anything. It’s a provocative idea, although, again, Ali G: Who Iz I feels more scripted than the Borat films did, perhaps because in those films he didn’t go as far as he does here. Whatever the case, I did laugh consistently during the movie, although I’d wager most audiences will see this on streaming, as Amazon/MGM is giving it a very limited one-week run, with many theaters only playing it once a day. Cohen is still funny and has a knack for finding people willing to utterly humiliate themselves, and the fact that he’s been able to do so for over twenty years now continues to amaze.”
