Having made an impressive debut behind the camera with Netflix thriller ‘Woman of the Hour,’Anna Kendrick has taken her time locking down another directorial stint.
Per Deadline, the streaming service has now brought her aboard to call the shots on ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo,’ which will adapt Taylor Jenkins Reid’s (‘Daisy Jones & The Six’) bestseller.
This is one that Netflix has been trying to get going for a while, with Maggie Betts (‘The Burial’) and Leslye Headland (‘Bachelorette’) both taking a crack at it before departing for unspecified reasons.

Reid’s New York Times bestselling novel follows a young journalist’s long awaited interview with Evelyn Hugo, an aging Hollywood starlet, who pulls back the curtain on her seven marriages, and as she tells tales of Hollywood scandals, betrayals, and woe, she unveils shocking truths about her own life and the lives of everyone around her.
Liz Tigelaar (‘Little Fires Everywhere’) wrote the first draft of the script with Francesca Sloane (‘Big Little Lies’) currently working on revisions.

Kendrick was most recently seen in ‘Another Simple Favor’ and will be back on our screens co-starring with Seth Rogen in ‘Babies.’ She’s also filmed new Chris Rock drama ‘Misty Green’ and TV series ‘Embassy.’
