Kelly Ripa Details Shaking With ‘Rage’ Over Squatters
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos own a pricey townhouse in New York City. They bought the five-story home for $27 million in 2013. During the COVID pandemic, she read a news article that sent shockwaves through her.

The LIVE host read a story about squatters taking over a Malibu home and the homeowners being unable to get them out. The story sparked an idea for her – a show bringing the problem of squatters to light. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos serve as executive producers on Hulu’s six-part docuseries Squatters: Get the F*** Out of My House.
The couple shared with PEOPLE magazine how the show resonated with them. Kelly Ripa admitted she was left in a “rage” over the stories. “It’s the audacity of the criminals, but it’s also their utter destructive nature. They don’t just squat in your home, profit from squatting in your home, subleasing it to whoever wants to come and go,” she said.
She continued, “They are then destroying the property value of your home by taking all of the appliances out of your home. The fixtures, the beautiful chandeliers, ripping the wood out of the floor, selling off anything. They destroy everything.”

Mark Consuelos was in disbelief. “Oh, I would be in so much trouble if this happened to me. All the things I thought about doing are against the law.” He pointed out that it isn’t easy for homeowners to evict squatters.
