Daft Punk to Stream Interstella 5555, Their Discovery Companion Movie, Tonight

Daft Punk are marking February 22, the anniversary of their breakup, with a stream of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. The screening of the animated sci-fi movie, which they released in 2003 to accompany Discovery, starts at 5:22 p.m. Eastern on Twitch. Check it out here.

Daft Punk wrote Interstella 5555 with Cédric Hervet and enlisted Kazuhisa Takenouchi, a Dragon Ball Z alumnus, to direct. February 22 has become a notable date in Daft Punk’s post-breakup calendar. On the first anniversary of the breakup, they announced a Homework reissue and livestreamed a vintage show. The following year brought news of the Random Access Memories reissue. (Later in 2023, for reasons known to them alone, Daft Punk released a drumless version of the album.) This month, Thomas Bangalter released his score for Quentin Dupieux’s Daaaaaalí!
