When Calls the Heart debuted in 2014, after a 2013 pilot movie. Based on the work of Janette Oke, the series revolves around Erin Krakow’s Elizabeth Thatcher as she starts a new life in a 1910s Canadian frontier town. The long-running series has since proven to be a staple of the network.
When Calls the Heart recently wrapped up its 13th season on March 22, 2026. The episode, “Harvest Moon,” featured the Hope Valley Harvest Festival, all the while looking at the story’s future.
The season finale came with a lot of developments, both expected and not. These included Elizabeth and Nathan’s engagement, Lucas kissing Edie, and Lori Loughlin’s shocking early return as Abigail Stanton.
With all that happens in the finale, fans can’t wait to see these stories continue with new episodes. Reportedly, there’s good and bad news for fans. The show has announced that there will be new episodes. However, fans will have to wait a while to get them.
Taking to Instagram, the Hallmark Channel shared, “2027 can’t come soon enough, #Hearties! There’s so much in store for the next season of When Calls the Heart. What are you most looking forward to?”
In other words, fans can expect a fourteenth season. However, there won’t be new episodes for the rest of 2026.
A New Beginning
Of course, fans have something to keep them entertained while they wait. The series’ prequel spin-off, Hope Valley: 1874, premiered on March 21, 2026, exclusively on the Hallmark Plus platform, with new episodes coming out on Thursdays. This series sees Bethany Joy Lenz play Rebecca Clarke, who travels with her daughter from Chicago to the Western Canadian frontier.
Taking to the comments, many fans expressed their feelings about the news. Some were upset about the wait, though some felt it was well worth it.
